There are several counties and cities that will be able to vote for relaxed marijuana laws across the State of Ohio this November.

The Green Party of Ohio is supporting decriminalization measures that remove all penalties for the possession and use of under 200 grams of marijuana. This breaks down to just over one pound of marijuana. The party feels that this is "a good first step" to full marijuana legalization, which they believe is "inevitable."

Medical marijuana was legalized under "restricted conditions" on September 8th of this year. The State of Ohio has 11 months to introduce and enact a program.

Green Party supports are in Bellaire in Belmont County; Byesville in Guernsey County; Logan in Hocking County; Newark in Licking County; and Roseville on the border of Perry and Muskingum counties.

While I support this measure I, as well, feel the full legalization of marijuana is inevitable. If these measures were to pass, it would help keep marijuana users out of the criminal justice system. Ohio needs to get on board with states like Colorado and Washington, legalize marijuana and tax it.
